Charger question

I was behind a new Charger this morning and it said Charger R/T. What does the R/T stand for? I would ask Mark but he is on a plane right now. It didn't look bad from the rear end but when it turned I'm not so sure I liked it.

there was never technically a "term" but chrysler did have a "rapid transit " for their muscle cars in the late 60s early 70s

r/t is 5.7 se is 3.5 srt8 is 6.1 and they all have varying levels of trim. a chrysler 300 is a v6 a 300c is a 5.7 etc etc etc. it used to mean road/track now it means really whored out.

Race Tested
Road Track
Race Team

So many variations...

SRT stands for Street, Race, and Technology... Use to stand for Street Race Technology but DCX didn't want lawsuites...

I've always thought R/T originally stood for Road & Track as well. No arguement with th statement that now it is just whored out. Kind of like Chevy and SS.

So it is either rapid transit or road/track. I hate that they put these stupid things on cars and I don't know what they mean. Where is that pet peeve thread?

That was the second choice... Then they realize... Still lawsuit possibility... So they threw in the "and" and a comma...

The Rapid Transit site says it was a Plymouth thing. Wasn't Dodge the only one to badge cars as R/T? Maybe I'm wrong. I just don't ever recall seeing an R/T Cuda, Road runner, etc. off the top of my head.

The SRT8 Charger looks badass imo, but the base model looks like a pos. I never thought I could love and hate the same car so much in different models.

It believe it is road and track, the R/T badge was around before Mopar came up with Rapid Transit System. I think the first R/T was a 67 Coronet and i think they came up with the Rapid Transit System in 69. The Rapid Transit System was more of a way of advertising high performance Plymouths.

Whoops... I read last time they were changing it again and I never knew they did it.. Haven't been on the SRT boards in a while... :banghead:
Seeing as how your car hasn't ran in what seems like a decade
