Changing Ferrari a/c compressor - Pag oil question

DarkoStoj

A mysterious figure named Darko
So changing an A/C Compressor on a Ferrari and had some questions about oil amount.

The person I bought the car from said he changed out a bad compressor with another used one but it went bad after a short period of time. We pulled it off and the compressor was completely bone dry.

I have a reman one I'm installing (dry with no fluid) and not sure how much oil to put back into this system to keep everything protected. Since the a/c compressor was bone dry I'm thinking it probably needs more added then the 5oz the manual says to add.

Any thoughts?

you buy it to drive it, or sell it? try some Ferrari forums?

With a Ferrari its all about the documented service history, at least that's what i hear on Chasing Classic Cars all the time. :dontknow:

If the compressor failed shortly after replacement "and" it's dry, there is most likely debris in the system. A full system flush "IS" needed along with condenser (if serpentine style), accumulator/dryer, expansion valve, & muffler (if equipped). What year and model? I can look up specs.

Used to work in San Diego at that Ferrari Dealer... I'm sure they'd answer your question.
