This afternoon Chrysler Group and its parts division Mopar unveiled its newest concept vehicle, the Dodge Challenger SS, and a revived a trio of crate engines to mark the 50th anniversary of the classic 392 Hemi at the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association trade show in Las Vegas.
The Challenger SS, which stands for Super Stock, is the second concept version of the legendary muscle car -- first revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit early this year. Chrysler Group plans to have 2008 production models ready in early 2008.
The 392 Hemi crate engines, which are powerplants customers can order through Mopar and install in their garage, out power even the biggest production Hemi in vehicles now. (The 6.1-liter Hemi creates 425-horsepower.) The carbureted 392 will crank out 540 horsepower and 490-feet-pounds of torque. The fuel-injected version will push 525-horses and 510-foot-pounds of torque.
"The 392 Hemi is a legend so rich in automotive tradition that hundreds, if not thousands, of books and accounts have been written about its historical significance," said Chris Cortez, senior vice president--Global Service & Parts, Chrysler Group in a press release.
The aftermarket trade show began today and runs through Friday.

New paint and a different scoop would work wonders on that car. i really like the idea of a factory carb again

It's not going to be a carbureted car. Just the crate engines Mopar will sell. They will be either EFI or Carbureted. :pow:

that car is gonna be hot when it comes out
let's hope they build them right

anyone know where they will build it? :dontknow:

There a reason for the paint and the scoop

The scoop is very simular the the old 68 hemi darts and the paint honors one of the greatest drivers to ever row a 4-speed down the quarter mile. I'll take it as is:icon_mrgr
