Cell phone broke, need to extract data off of it

Because he has a password on it and can't input the password with a broken screen.

Just like anything electronic, you can't back it up after you've broken it.

If it were just the screen broken, it's a $10 fix. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/galaxy-note-2-screen-replacement

But since our friend Kyle really broke it, the digitizer is $150. http://www.ebay.com/bhp/samsung-galaxy-note-2-lcd-digitizer

Couldnt he order a broken phone (charger port, bad esn, or the like) and use the digitizer (and screen) out it?

Now where'd you put that speech about change and how if you don't change you'll be "that guy" :hmm:

Like I said though, can't he just replace the screen? You can get a replacement iphone screen for $30.

You can get the glass for $30. You don't get the screen. The screen is now a fused piece of glass and the digitizer. If you want to get a heat gun, heat the digitizer till the glue gets soft, peel that off, apply it to the new glass without breaking it or aligning it wrong, then yes, you can get a new 'screen' for $30. Try buying the digitizer and screen and you're talking around $250. Unless I guess if you want to purchase a Chinese made knock off.

I tried to change the glass on my s3 with the whole heat up with a heat gun method. Yeah, that worked well. I fucked the actual screen up trying to get the glass off. Now my old S3 is in the same predicament as your note. Boots up but has no display, and I have it locked as well so Kies wont do shit. What you should of done Kyle is just say you lost the old phone so you wouldn't have to send it back. Then you could try your old mobo switch and not worry about sending the phone back with the wrong one. Thats what I did, although I have not attempted to swap the mobos yet.
