Cash for clunkers

I thought this was a very poor thought out program from the begining, but now I am sure. Bring in your good running cars and we will fuck the motors up so we get these gas wasting pigs of the streets, next we will shred all vehicles. Why is it i went to the junkyard to look for a 3.9 Dodge V-6 (still looking) only to see rows and rows of perfect looking cars, and trucks. I was shocked I knew there had to be a good motor in all these gems, but NOPE all motors have been fucked. Now maybe I am looking at this all wrong but WTF, junkyards ended up with all these nice parts only to stick it to you if you need a part. Was there a breakdown in congress where they could not shred these fast enough?

junkyards, dealers just sold them to junkyards. They were supposed to give the purchaser of the new car that turned in the clunker the estimated scrap value but I don't know how often that really happened or how many purchasers actually even knew that.

I thought the boneyards could sell parts off them for 90 days before crushing them, but I think later that was upped to 6 months.

We have C4C's. We had 6 months to sell parts before we scrapped them. They extended it to 9 months. The motor is trashed. We have sold some heads off of certain engines and they have been fine. We have sold a lot of transmissions out of them too. Out of all of the transmissions we have sold from C4C's, 2 have come back bad. I'm talking 20-30 transmissions, and only 2 were bad. That's not too bad. The body parts on some are okay, but others....it's prolly good they scrapped them. Some are POS's.
