Did you try the method using grease or wet toilet paper and a wooden dowl which is the same size as the input shaft? That's the way I've always done it.....

please explain

Find a socket that fits in the pilot bearing perfectly. Keep putting wet paper towel in the pilot bearing and pound it in. It will eventually get behind the pilot bearing and push it out, this takes a while but I have seen it work. The tighter the fit with the socket(or whatever) the easier the bearing will come out.

so shove a bunch of wet paper towel into the end of the crank and than hammer the socket in the hole?

That's correct. It's a hydraulic effect. You can also use grease. The pressure will drive the bushing or bearing out. I've done it at least 5 times back in the day.
