Can you take this on a plane?

My wife bought one of those little dead sharks in a jar. I am pretty sure the fluid is formaldahyde. She plans on bringing it home from Hawaii. Is this something they will let her bring? I thought that the luggage compartments are not pressurized, and containers with liquid will break.

Any ideas?

nope, I got stopped when I was a little kid trying to bring it carryon. formaldehyde is explosive. We had to have them shipped up. You may be OK putting it in your checked luggage though

You are gonna have to check it. 9/10 times, the cargo is in the pressurized area which is pressurized to the same cabin pressure of about 8,000'. Just ask the airline to verify and to check, and wrap it in some good amount of bubblewrap.

liquid containers wont break, its not a vacuum. all booze is held in checked luggage, same with pets...

I brought 2 Habu snakes back in a Saki bottle from Okinawa in my stow away luggage. It surived the trip just fine and nothing was confiscated. They did check the bag though. Not sure if that helps any. Best thing is to just call and ask.

Sharks on a plane, probably same as Snakes on a plane, except for the shark....
