Can I use Brake CLeaner to Clean Pulleys? remove armour all/grease?

I think I got a lot of overspray of armour all on my belts when I was detailing the engine. The belt is now garbage. What can I use to clean the pulley's?

I was thinking Brake Cleaner but will have harm the rubber belts?

Other thoughts? There is rubber residue (from slipping belt), armour all, road grime, and white lithium grease overspray (sprayed battery terminals on the pulleys.

I noticed for the last few months by boost decreasing. Today it pushed a max of 10#'s. then went to 7, then back up to 10. Figured the belt was toast.... it was.
In cold weather I've seen 17. Last night was cold enough I should have been around 15'ish... nope.

Brake cleaner or engine degreaser should be fine.
 
the brake cleaner will work. I would watch out if you have aftermarket(polished aluminum) pulleys. brake cleaner will take the finish off the pulleys. the brake clean will make the belt slippery untill it's dry. also (just an idea) you can spray hair spray on the belt to keep it from spinning.

oh yes.........brake clean is the duct tape of cleaning car parts!!.

i dont konw where i would be today without brake clean!:icon_mrgr

wd-40 tooo. it works great for getting tire rubber off Q-panels and bugs off the front-doesn't hurt paint at all
