Some idiot just rear ended my mother in law on i75 in auburn hills and took off.

It's a Michigan dealer plate, Chrysler minivan, 67 D 182

She's on the phone now with the fuzz.

Silly question but if the police already have the plate number what further information do you hope to obtain?

This^ Every asshole and their brother are able to get dealer plates these days. Probably another guy using the alias Ray or Sam that owns a gas station.

Curious which dealership employees people that find it acceptable to hit and run in company vehicles
Could have been someone out for a "test drive".. you know the ones that have no intention of buying the car but they take it to pick up their kids from school then to the grocery store lol.

Actually, I'm told they are much harder to get then in the past. You have to have a state licensed business with a minimum of so many parking spaces, and while the plates are cheap and very convenient for someone with multiple vehicles to switch back and forth, the insurance cost a fortune.

correct

I stand corrected. I feel a bit silly now....I had just ASSumed that they were fairly easy to get. I work in Warren, and see a ton of middle eastern guys driving around with dealer plates. I see probably 5-6 a week on average, and always wonder where they're going with clapped out Toyota Camrys and the like.
