Calling All Travelers.. Honeymoon Suggestions

A carrier for United. We get the same united benefits as well. Unless it's a promotional ticket that he got as an employee, no such thing as free, guaranteed travel.

What she does is use someone in her families miles (she has like 6 siblings and they fly for free all the time) so she just takes miles from her youngest sister who won't be using them for years and gives them to us. He is a very high up at United... like one below the CFO or something like that. They never pay to fly, and all she has to pay for giving us the miles is like fees and taxes or something like that. She did it for my fiances sister last year and it cost her like $50 for 1st class round trip to Aruba

:wtf: Big island is fantastic. Black, green, brown/tan, white sand beaches, Mauna Kea & star gazing, Volcanoes N.P, low population density....

Back on topic.... I'd go for a once-in-a-lifetime (aka, I'd never pay the cost). Seychelles, Kenya, Tanzania, Cape Town, South Africa (great white shark dives!). A few days in Portugal, then to Goa, India + a day trip to Taj Mahal. Since it's a honeymoon, an itinerary with stops at Sioux City, IA and Fukuoka, Japan airport would be fun for the baggage tags.

I've heard the Big Island is too commercialized/touristy

Too touristy if you're staying at a resort in or near Kona. Big island touristy is nowhere near Oahu/Honolulu/Waikiki touristy. Last year, the family and I stayed here on the big island: https://www.vrbo.com/499551

If you want Hawaii + minimal tourists, seek out Molokai and Kuaui.

I've been to a lot of places, but my all time favorite was Hobart, Tasmania. You could probably incorporate NZ, Austrailia and Fiji into the trip also.

We are also planning ours. The plan was a mediterranean cruise + a few day stay SOMEWHERE over there. Or we are thinking of flying to Quebec and driving down the east coast. A few days in key spots, boston, some places we have been before. It's not exotic but it's best to be in this area around summer i think.

Alaska work for you?? Oregon, northern California??

Quebec?? On purpose? They hate Americans

Well thats a broad statement...is it a better destination than Istanbul, Turkey because that is where our cruise would have ended.. My dad is from an area west of Quebec... i dont care if they hate Americans, my last name might help ward off a beat down in the streets?? :) I'm taking my own sand to the beach on this trip so...... haha

We had the same thought for Europe.. it was at the top of our list, but I think it's slowly dropping down the list.
I do want to go to Alaska but I wouldn't mind waiting until I'm like 40 to go there. There are way more places I'd rather go for my honeymoon than Alaska.

If you really wanted to do it up.... Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

Well by then it will be the new Miami according to the news. :)

Mike, where are the pics of Cobras, spiders, scorpions, centipedes? Jk... I've seen a few pics of similar resorts in Africa that would peak anyones interest. Planning something like that probably takes a bit of know how. 338 Lapua by the nightstand anyone!?!? Haha

What is you're goal of the honeymoon? I know for us it was to relax. We were also married in August and went to Maui. It's is the best place I have found to relax in the last 20 years.

Europe is a great trip too but you will come home tired. There is so much to do and so much to see you're going all day and night. Every time I have gone to Europe France, Italy, or wherever it takes me a week to recover.

Best wishes and enjoy where ever you go.

When we went to Italy, we all pitched in (family of about 10) and rented a restored farmhouse out in the hills in Tuscany. We spent about one week hitting Venice, Cinque Terre, Florence, etc via train... and then the other week just relaxing at the farmhouse with small daily trips into town (Monticello, IIRC) for lunch and exploring.

I'd love to go back again
