C4 Trans question.

you didn't even give us a chance. Inquiring minds want to know...

When the trans is cold is has a hard time going into third gear and when I race it, it slips (the motor will free rev then catch) I checked the fluid and its not burn, I adjusted the shifter cable thinking maybe that was the problem... I am stumped when it comes to transmissions. I pulled the trans out and I am having a guy at my work check it out.

Let me know when you find out, mine is kinda doing the same thing but 2nd gear. It is full manual and if I start in 2nd it doesn't slip or anything and shifts very firm into 3rd. BUT, if I start in 1st and try to run through the gears it wont go into 2nd...AND, if I let off and stab it again, it will catch at like 5000 RPM'S????? I am also confused! Fluid is full. And just recently changed.

Probably going to find the direct clutches burning to burnt and a lot of clutch clearance. What servo are you using. The servo cover has a letter on it {a,h etc}. Is this a manual valve body or is it automatic shifting/manual control ?

Mike.

Have you readjusted the intermediate band?

wipe the dip stick with a white rage and check for clutch material or black dust of any kind. i just had the same problem with my aode for trans. didnt see anything on the dipstick or on my fingers, then i wiped it with a paper towel to confirm my suspicion of burnt up clutches. it could be somthing as simple as a sticky valve body tho. good luck with it.

In a manual valve body, the shift valves are pinned and don't move. The source for all shifting is from the manual valve.
