C4 problems

My Cruise-O-matic C4 for trans has recently developed a problem with going into gear. First it started off not being able to go into low, then later it started to take a few attempts going into drive, and now only reverse works.

Really need some input because it is my daily driver.

Also it is a C4 trans bolted to a 68 mustang 289 swapped into my 86 ranger.

Any help would be very appreciated.

Sounds like

It sound like the inner o-ring seal for the fowrad clutch has hardened up and is not sealing. The o-ring can get so hard that you have to break the o-ring in two with a pick or other blunt object. It sounds like the trans is just tired.

What should i do?! I dont have money for a rebuild. is there anything else that could be wrong

Park wont engage, drive, neutral, or low. for some reason when you put the shifter in park it goes into reverse and the trans stays engaged into reverse but you are able to move the gear shifter into other gears but it still stays in reverse.

Maybe the shifter linkage came loose inside the trans. To find out you have to remove the pan. It's easier to call me then to try to explain by typing it all out.
