C4 pan leak

I have a 85 mustang with a c4 . I was wondering is there any special gasket for the aluminum deep pan? I noticed fluid leaking at the frt driver corner under pressure , a nice steady drip especially when running. Is a cork gasket fine or are there good rubber gaskets on the market? Is it posible to seal wih silicon? Thanks .

cork usually does the job as long as the pan bolts are torqued. The plastic gaskets with rubber inserted rings are good, plus reusable. If there is still a leak, make sure the mating surfaces are clean and free of warpage or even cracks.

RTV that area where u have the leak, should seal er' up

i bet its the front pump gasket or the front seal. and not the pan gasket. especially if its in the front and when its running. but more than likely its the pump gasket cause it will be on that side of the bellhousing and it will look like its coming from the pan

Mine was doing that same thing and it was the tining chain cover gasket, that little half circle gasket that sits down in the pan...Blew it right out.

Problem solved

Johnny goodlooking on the advise. It was a $3.00 frt pump gasket a lot of work for such a small part. Back on the road.

yeah i have been there a few times, no fun at all. it sucks doing that much work and not even making it better in some way. it wouldnt be so bad if you were doing a converter swap or something like that. but just to change that gasket sucks
