C4 + Blockplate+ JW bellhousing

Do I still have to use the blockplate with my c4 if I have a JW ultra bellhousing? What is the actual purpose of the plate there for anyways?

How thick is the plate? If it is of decent thickness, were the heights of the pad feet taken into account when whoever did your converter, built it? As long as the converter splines/seats on all the steps, and you don't have to pull the converter out too far to seat with the flexplate, it should be fine. More than likely it won't be an issue.

Block plate is very thin. (maybe 50 thou) Just the stock plate. Also, I was wondering because it has a starter shim on the plate itself. Think I should cut that part of the plate out to get the correct depth so the started gear/flexplate mesh correctly?

I've been seeing the block plate interfere with the weight on the flexplate more than a handful of times now.

Yeah, they always "self clearance" themselves, lmao. If you're not going to run the plate, I'd just get the correct thickness starter shims from the parts store so you don't have to cut up the plate.

LMAO... Yep, been there, done that. Actually just had to go help out 82Hatch with that. He couldn't turn his engine over by hand because it was so tight. Had to cut the center of the plate out and just use the outer part of it.
