Buyng a handgun this weekend, what to get?

If your into striker fired handguns, try checking out the M&P line, very nice stuff, and you can get a good deal currently from Bud's Guns on Detroit P.D. unissued turn in M&P40's for $399, that come with night sights and 3 15 round mags. Great deal, and nice guns, they are only a $75 trigger job by ATEI from being stellar. I love mine, and it carries comfortably. I have transferred a bunch of them for customers.

Orly? Never knew they had any...

For the money I'm going to have to suggest FN, pick one up and see how you like it. Shoot it see how you like it. I've got an FN9s and I think it's great. I like this so much more than the others I tried, imo much nicer than a glock and much much better than the shield.

If you want something really easy to conceal in all weather, something you can throw in a pocket holster and go, try a S&W J frame revolver. (like a 642) More and more I carry one of these than a compact semi auto just out of convenience.

This is a great gun for carry. Quite a few of my friends carry this gun and love it. Probably the next gun I will buy myself. Biggest thing for a carry piece is that it is comfortable to carry. Otherwise, when you need it, it wont be on your side because it was uncomfortable to carry.

For a novice shooter; depending on cartridge size - I wouldn't suggest a revolver as your accuracy and rate of follow up shots is bleek for anything more then 5yds. Granted the statistic of most self defense shootings occur within that distance....but someone can also close 5 yards faster then most people can draw and shoot.

I'm up to 4 people that have ordered these after seeing mine. I should ask Bud's for commission.

Definetely a sweet trigger after Doug worked his magic on it. And with the Detroit PD engraving, it just adds a little extra local flair for us guys. $399 very well spent, and I am a preferred dealer for transfers through Bud's

I have probably done almost 10 transfers of these for guys, they all have been as described, a couple unissued ones were even "ashy" from never having been handled or oiled externally.

Thanks for CPL'ing!

Earth shattering news reguarding P320C. After 20 years on his side, James Yaeger set aside his G19 to carry a P320C. I assume its a highly paid sponsorship because he said he's never held OR shot one.... doesnt make much sense to me...

Grats on the CPL and the Sig P320.
I'm not familiar with that particular model but if it's anything like a P938 I think you'll enjoy it.
My carry guns are a Sig P938, Springfield XD-S 45 and a S&W 642.
The P938 is a great pocket gun with a DeSantis holster.
The Springfield goes well with a Comp-Tac IWB.

Lol I live that guy on YouTube (James jaeger). Very informitve rifle videos. But changing your weapon after 20 years... very curious about that

now I need to figure out what holster to get to carry the gun. Any recommendations. Not necessarily the type, but more where? arm pit, front pants, back pants, etc...

Definitely try a few on and see what works best for u. Since you're around my age, think of the pager days and how everyone wore them differently lol. The other big choice is IWB or OWB that will work best for how you dress for when you'll be carrying most of the time.

only revolver I ever loved was a S&W model 19, wish I'd kept it, was a tack driver, perfect bance, natural point of aim, etc., guess that's why it was the defacto standard for LEO for ~40 years
