Burnout Pain

"Hello Allstate, yes a truck backed into my vette while I was parked and took off"

That happened 10 ft in front of me at Lonestar this weekend at TX2k11...definitely not fake, but does look kind of weird in the vid. Lucky none of the techs were standing there. He is an experienced racer, running 10s plenty of times before that, but sh!t happens. Big mistake was keeping into the burnout when the car started moving, thats asking for it in these. Easily a good $6k in damage looking at it after, unfortunately not covered, and no chance in hell of claiming it with all of the video and pics online. Oh well, nobody got hurt.

That sucks so bad.. I feel bad for him and the car.. You can tell he over corrected WAY to much by watching the front tires.. I'm always worried about stuff like that happening to me when at the track... Glad everyone is OK.

Yeah, you have to feel bad for the guy because that can happen to anyone. Hate the chumps snickering at him.

I just thought the video was funny because it reminds me of how Steve Buscemi crashes the Vette at the end of Mr Deeds the way it just abruptly stops.

You can see he pulls up a bit too far for his burnout, simple enough to do at an unfamiliar track. Then the big mistake comes about when the car starts to walk sideways, he should have let off both throttle and brake and rolled straight. It happens fast in RWD high hp cars, not sure how much track time you have, but it really is an easy mistake to mkae. He only corrected a little bit, but the car hooked and shot him at the wall.

To give an idea of how fast it happens, second gear burnouts are usually around 80 mph at the rear. When that hooks, picture your wheels not being perfectly straight. Yea, not good.

I would have pulled into the staging lanes and ripped the lose crap off, got some tape, and made the f'n run...then I would go home and cry that I would have had one of the most expensive track outings in my life.
