Buick Century injector flow rate???

How can I figure this out.
Car is not mine, so I dont have anything to reference.
I think engine code is "J", it is a V6.
Not sure how to determine 3.1 or 3.3.
It's a 1990

Car wouldn't start or really stay running on weekend. I pop off the intake and hit it with some starting fluid, started right up. I figured it was out of fuel. Put in a little more than 2 gallons, tried again, now nothing. Did the same, starting fluid and it would run only on that, stop spraying and it quit.

My thinking is fuel pump. Took it to shop, today they tell us their diagnostic says injector 5.
I don't believe it is the injector, not sure why it wouldn't start if 1 of the 6 injectors was bad.
They're saying $375 for the repair, $100 for diagnostic, and $175 for a refurbished injector installed.
I called autozoo, they say $105 for new injector.

I guess I wonder what happens if/when they replace injector and it still doesn't fix the issue?
Do they charge again for another "diagnostic", whatever that is, and then more parts?

I don't let people work on my junk, for this exact reason.

It's likely around 12lb/hr, but, why do you need to know? You can buy replacement injectors from the parts store that will be direct replacement. Did they check fuel pressure at the rail? I'm not 100% positive, but I don't know that ODBI could pinpoint a single injector as a fault like OBDII can. Check fuel pressure, if that's solid (45+psi), then pull a spark plug and look in with a light/mirror. You'll be able to see fuel being sprayed into the cylinder if the injector is working.

I need to know because I have a bunch of injectors from Camaro and Mustang in my basement.
OBDI can't pinpoint a single injector as you stated.
The only troubleshooting I did was mentioned in the first post, I was working in a dunkin donuts parking lot in 100* weather, and it's not my car.

Thanks, I've got some 19's here from a Mustang, may end up giving it a try.

I'm doubtful though that one injector will stop the engine from starting and running. I pulled the plug on my car, also V6 and runs fairly well considering its down one. This thing wouldn't even start, unless I sprayed it with the starting fluid. I'm not saying that it needed starting fluid to start, if I could have sprayed gasoline in the throttle body I'm confident it would have ran as well.

Impedance matching is very important. Also, the injector rate could throw the ecm into over or under fueling in P.E or cause o2 & plug fouling.

Like I said though, I don't think 1 bad injector out of 6 would keep the car from starting or running.
