brake light switches on the rangers tend to go out. when I have my truck it went out.

Could a bad fuse be responsible for it? What will the fuse look like if its bad?

We just put in a patch wire from the third brake light to the other 2 due to a broken wire in the wiring harness on a Grand prix

My mom's friend has a 94 Ranger and she just had this problem on friday. At first i checked the fuse and it was good. So then i took a multi meter to the brake light switch and got no power. I went and got a switch, put it in and it still didn't work. Ended up being a broken wire at the connector to the brake light switch that i overlooked when i replaced it.

How do you know if the fuse is good or not?
And how can i check to see if its getting power? I dont think a test light can reach.

this "hump" inside the fuse isnt complete tells you that its blown:

if its there its fine.

if your testlight doesnt reach, move it. otherwise a multimeter will work also.

Where could i move the test light to?

doesnt it just have a ground clamp on it and a pointed probe? move the clamp to any metal part under the dash or in the door jamb etc.

clip the clip to anything that is metal(cleaner the better) and is directly attached to the frame or body
