Bought another LS1 F-Body

Well since the day I sold my 2000 Z28 I've regretted it. I still have an 04 Cobra that is a blast, but I've always wanted another F body since. I actually had gotten in contact with the old owner of my 2000 who was out in Oklahoma and had talked to him about buying it back. He gave me a price and we agreed and had a date set to come out and everything, and he backed out last minute. That upset me because I really missed the car, but I found one a few hours away on Craigslist for a pretty killer price in great condition.

This is a 1998 Z28. LS1 Auto car. I am the second owner, has 100k miles and is 100% stock down to the air filter. Car starts and runs and drives with no issues. It came from Virginia. This is probably the cleanest F body I have ever seen with these kind of miles. I'll share some pictures the previous owner sent me (because it's snowing here and the car will be in the garage for the next few months) and plans.

Off the bat plans (some I've already ordered) for installing before getting the car out for the spring include:

BBK ceramic LT headers
O/R Y pipe w/cut out
SLP cold air kit
Yank SS4000 converter
Aftermarket cooler with -6 AN pushlock hoses
4.10 ring and pinion
Weld Wheels with radials to replace these ugly stockers
Sunoco hood

And I think that will make for a fun cruiser for a while. I had a cam,th400, and a ton of other stuff in my 2000 z28 but I want to keep this one a little more street friendly.

Here's some pictures.

And after several hundred miles home on an open trailer in a snow storm, it's going to need a detail job!

Looks really nice! Care to share what it set you back?

I think tint, a little drop, and some ZR1s and I'd be done with it appearance wise. I do dig the Sonoco hoods though.

Tint is for sure on the list. I can't seem to have a car with normal street wheels though, always on some Welds lol. I got it in the 5k range.

When I got it:

Very nice! What size radial is that? 295/55?

I think you did well paying in the $5k range. I've seen some pretty rough LT1 cars in that range, and your LS1 is super nice.

Chris, good find. If I knew what I know now and learning things from Leo I would have bought exactly what you did and built that. Great start and you have great wheel taste lol.

The back wheel/tire setup fills the wheel well nice but the offset on the front looks off IMO.

Finally got the car off the trailer and into the garage tonight. Put it on the lift to check it out all over. It is pretty clean, however isn't perfect. But I have to keep reminding myself this is not my newer 13k mile Cobra, and this is a 15 year old car with original paint. When I have my new hood painted I am going to have the passenger side fender painted as well. It has a little bit of sun fading and has a scratch on it. I might also have the front bumper done too due to some rock chipping. Anyways, here's some pictures.

I couldn't stand to look at those stock wheels anymore, so I ordered a set of Weld Racing Weldstar RT wheels. I will be going with a 17x4.5 Alumastar for the front. Sold some Cobra stuff I had today, so I can order the rest of my stock pile of parts to start throwing at this thing (gear, converter, trans cooler, exhaust, other bolt ons)
