Boss 9 aka Shotgun Motor

I was wondering if anyone (maybe some of the older guys) knows where to locate one of these engines. I know they are very close to the ford 460 style big block with some exception, the semi-hemispherical heads. Somebody must make a reproduction or something.

I've looked for quite a while, and can't really find a paticular shop that has anything. The best i've come is a shop that carries longblocks that start at 30k and go up to 125k. That's a bit out of my price range. If there isn't a shop, there should be.

All help is greatly appreciated

a complete 429 will run 100k and up and the people who have them dont sell them. If you have the cash I know where one is that could be for sale for the correct price

Thanks for the info, but i've already found one in michigan for 32k. I was just researching a little further if there were any other leads elsewhere.

You know what American Express keeps telling me, don't leave home without it:D

:lol: You're as good at google as I am, Thats why I'm asking here, I might as well try word of mouth. There has to be a shop that does boss 9 head reproductions, the block is basicly a 460. I'm not interested in an original....

15,000 for a battery!!!!! FORGET THAT.. It would cost less then 15,000 to CNC a set of heads identical to the originals out of scratch probally. I know how i'm going to start my next business:)
 
you can b=get complete heads for 6k the block is the $$$$ part and yep just use a 460 block. I watch the prices on these because I know where a 69 Boss mustang is sitting in a yard and yep its complete

Where could you find the heads? Do you just mean on ebay, or do you know a place that has them.
 
ebay is the only place that I see them there was a set that ended a few weeks ago at 6k but no bidders, try to find the complete auction and contact the seller. Then you need the 1500 valve covers
 
i know where one is and it sbeen sitting for 20 + years its in a old t-buck that ran 10 flat back in the day.. my gramps old car.. and ive tried buying it off my grams but she doesnt want to sell it for a reasonable price even to me.. its been in the garage for ever with tons of junk stacked on it..:bored:

I found something, I know its not going to be cheap, but i'm just gathering information right now. It will be very cool if I get some spare time to put something together like this.

You gotta go up to your pops and be like, OK THE TOW TRUCK IS COMING... That is such a bad ass motor, dude it would be a shame for it to be sitting for 20 more years

My pops passed about 5 years ago my grandma just wont come off the car she has some sentimental value with it.. I offered her 10k and she wouldnt take it..

She has no idea the actualy value of the car now .. i havent bug her in a year or so i should go over there and ask again if she will come off it

You ever think dickhead that maybe she is just going to give it to you...someday , since you want it so bad. Maybe she is going to just to keep it in the family. Maybe she doesn't want your money. :dontknow: :icon_mrgr
