Bookshelf stereo recommendations

I have an old Onkyo integrated amp in my garage with some 8" Fostex full range speakers I built some years back. The TV in the pic is a 32", so they aren't small speakers by any means, but they hit harder than most subs you'll find at any big box store

But if you get a Bluetooth adapter with RCA outputs, it can

Would you happen to have a name of something worthy? I tested a few but they had some nasty static and noise, so I returned them and haven't done much since.

Mine's been in constant use since summer of '95. I added a Bluetooth receiver to stream from my phone when I'm working in the garage.

Mine survived four years of college with my wife, about 6 moves (2 with me) and is still rocking my garage now. It's 15 years old now

basically a chromecast audio I think.
Actually I do have the chromecast, I forgot, moved in the summer, haven't unpacked all my crap yet.

Chromecast audio works over wifi vs Bluetooth. All depends on what your goals are. Chromecast audio works well too if you don't need/want Bluetooth.

I forgot all about the Chromecast Audio. They can also be hacked to play local files as far as I know.

I found them, noted they were an option, but didn't try any, sorry. I started sifting through all the bits I needed, and a mid-level AV receiver was comparable in price. The Pioneer unit I bought was last year's model, donut was $100 cheaper than the current model and no hassle.

It pairs well and quickly with my Android phone or my wife's iPhone, I have the two Elac bookshelves hooked up, the DVD player, and the HDMI connection from the receiver to the TV. I had to hook an optical-audio wire from the Smart TV to hear TV over the speakers. I have a few Petrolicious vids on YouTube I'm fond of, and now want to add surround and center channels. I need to find a coax-3.5mm cable to get the powered sub working, it's just a sub left over from my old desktop PC sound setup. It makes decent clear bass, and I own it, sonic figured I'd try to use it.

Wife is happy, I have not cranked the system to really hear it, but seems find for what it will mostly be used for.

Future add one are the speakers as mentioned, then attempt some tablet/USB hub setup to access all my MP3's and to make sure all my CDs are ripped as full format audio.

If you want 1:1 rips, use a lossless format such as FLAC. FLAC is an open format that's supported by almost anything, save for Apple products. There may be easier options out there, but EAC will correct for any missing information that comes associated with scratched CDs and the like. Here's a good tutorial. http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Beginners_guide_to_EAC
