Board up a house door/windows?

Any tips? I need to board up the front and back doors to a house. Do you nail the plywood to the casing of the door or make a mini-frame out of 2x4's or what? Everything I find online has to do with hurricanes not crack smokers.

I'm pretty sure most people just nail it to the frame.... but anything temporary isn't going to stop a determined crackhead.

There is a pretty neat way to use plywood & 2x4’s.

Put the plywood outside, then the 2x4’s on the inside.
You then open the windows 7 drill holes through the
plywood & 2x4’s and bolt together using carriage bolts.

What you end up doing is “sandwiching” the wood in
the window/ doorway. This is a nice secure fix, without
doing any damage to the door / window frames.

This is how us pros do it

That's the way I saw to do it online, far too much work. Just ended up screwing some OSB up over the doors.

Nothing of value in the house except for piping but it didn't stop them from going in the other day. I'm sure they'll go back at some point, the cops said the same thing. I'll just check on it every other night when I'm out. :guns:

I'm sure the AC unit will be gone from outside in about a week.

I didn’t understand this was one of those houses that were
under attack!

When I’ve had houses that no one was living in,….

1) Parked a extra car I had in the driveway of said house.

2) If electric is still on (it should be) set radio to a “talk station”.
& leave on. Set of some lights on timers & some on motion.

3) Pay neighbor kid a few bucks to “watch” the place for you.

4) Ask all your friends to stop by when ever they can as well.

5) Make sure you have good insurance (cost 4x as much for a vacant house).
