Well I'm down in Atlanta and I'm having a big issue with my 4.3L 2001 blazer - it won't start. It will crank and crank and crank, but no start. If I go full throttle, it will do a quick sputter, but nothing beyond that.
I was driving down the road and the engine just quit on me. I was able to roll into a parking spot 20 miles from my hotel (FML) and check a few things before it got too dark out. I don't have access to a fuel pressure tester, but the pump is priming and fuel is spitting out of the schrader valve with a ton of force. I pulled the wire from the distributor from the coil, and its getting spark there. I put a screw driver in the wire to the spark plug, and no spark that I could see. I may not have had a good ground or contact, but I did hold onto the screwdriver metal and I had no power going through me either.
I am going to go back after work with a spark plug tester to get a better idea to see if a spark is going to the plugs or not. If not, I'm going to strip the cap off and see if the rotor is free movement (stripped gear, etc) and how all the contacts look. I plan on replacing the cap and rotor just because I know its old. Other than that, anywhere else I should look? If the distributor is getting spark from the ignition control module/coil, should I even have those tested? Is the crank/cam position sensor a big concern on this vehicle? What to test or look for voltage wise?
