Big Block Chevy Help Please

My brother-in-law just but together a very nice BBC Gen 5 short block. The heads he just put a lot of money in are from a Gen 4 motor. He was told you can put a Gen 4 head on a Gen 5 motor with the correct head gasket. Well long story short he cannot find head gaskets and was just told you cannot put a Gen 4 head on a Gen 5 motor. Has any one done this? Can it be done? If so what head gasket does he order? If this will not work he will have some very nice parts for sale.

I was told before you cannot interchange gen V and gen IV head's and block's buy the guy who built my original short block. Mine is all gen IV.
 
Thanks for the information. I did some searching also, two articles I read said coolant would leak into the lifter valley. I will check on yellowbullet.
 
I am digging around for an article by vizard wich covers this subject. Its an old article so finding it might be tough.
 
Thanks for checking on this. I have been checking on custom made head gaskets for him, and just trying to get more information.
