it seems as though the motor and trans i have for sale is not going to sell, what is the best way to store it? i have it on a cherry picker with all ports taped off, intake taped off, and motor covered up, is there anything else i should do to prevent any damage? oil, trans fluid is also drained btw. thanks

Back the rockers off so there is no spring tension on the valves . I would have left the oil in . Rotate the crank every couple weeks to turn the motor over . Thants what i would do

Fog the cylinders with top lube and roll it around, Put clean oil in the pan, or atleast flushout the old stuff. The carbon build up in the used oil will eat at the bearings and errode them when sitting. Keep all ports closed off and plugs in it, back off rockers like mentioned.

yeah figured to put oil back in, i only drained it to change pan to front sump for the 69 before changing plans, and yes plugs are in it, and everthing else taped off, i will pop valve covers to loosen rockers, thanks

tape ports off, fill with oil, back off rockers, rotate every few weeks. i would even shoot a little oil in the cylinders every few months. plus the plugs have to come out to rotate it anyways with the rockers backed off. i did this with my motor and after sitting for 3+ years it still looks brand new inside after a recent inspection before putting it in the car.

As long as there are no major temp changes in the garage it should be fine but do what members above said.

FYI: I've sold engines and transmissions that have sat in our warehouse for 4-10 years and had no issues. We make sure they turn over before they leave, but never had a call back getting bitched at.
