Best vehicle for $6,500 - $10,000 to meet my needs

I'm getting rid of my SRT-10 to get something that can tow but can't really decide on what I want. I want something that isn't too big. No diesels or anything, just want something smaller. I've been looking at things such as avalanches, trailblazers, silverados, and all the way down to S-10's and Blazers. What would Motown's recommendation be??

2500 lb 4-horse trailer. May load up to four horses equalling 6500 lbs when fully loaded.

Normally would be towing two though at around 4500 lbs.

Need something 4wd also.

silverado for sure, i don't know if you can pick up a good used one in that price range though. Maybe a ram? How long have you lived in cadillac?

Used Diesels going cheap right now I'd look into that.. They will get better mileage loaded and unloaded over a gas truck all day long.
