Best Oil Filter

What have you guys learned over the year is the best oil filter?

I admit I run shit Fram filters on my Grand Marquis just for the SureGrip coating. It's a PITA to get the filter out of the car being a car with a rack and pinion let alone getting a band wrench or oil filter socket and ratchet up there.

My Poncho has had nothing but Mobil 1 and AC Delco filters since new and was wondering if I should change that. I'll continue to run synthetic for sure but if another filter is better I'll switch to it!

I'm hoping this thread turns out to be more then just PurpleHaze coming up in here and preaching Amsoil..... I'm not dissing you bro, just want non bias opinions.

I've heard the same things from a few people about Fram, but I have used them off and on for many years and have only read ONE thread on the many forums I've frequented who experienced any kind of damage due to a Fram filter.

That said, I run Mobil 1 filters on my GMC DD.

I use the fram with the suregrip coating on everything. 3500-6500rpm sustained for 20 minutes many many times and no problems.

I use Wix filters on all my vehicles.

I read an article a few years back that said Flow compared to Blocked Debris Wix made the best air filters around. That was up against all the major brands like STP, Fram, AC Delco, Motorcraft, (Whatever dodge makes, Mopar filters?), Airaid, K&N, etc. Was a private study done with like 15 different brands

Fram Sure Grip on the Lease... Volvo Filter on the (Duh) S80 and only ever used Mobil 1 filters on the TOYS.

DD gets whatever is cheap, usually Fram.
TA will get Mobil 1 filters once the oil isn't changed every half hour of run time.

I've used Purolator before - they were recommended to me by a friend and a lot of people on the Honda forums. I have a K&N right now because I like the bolt head it has on the bottom for easy install/removal

I just had a random thought. I work at an aftermarket accessories place. I could take any filter I use, tape it off, and spray it with a light coat of spray in bedliner! Now any filter is a Sure Grip!

Heard the same thing. I usually use the Motorcraft filters.

I will NEVER use another Fram filter again!

I had one break down in the Buick and it sucked in the material and destroyed a motor. Cost me $3000. to repair. Livernois had just rebuilt it. It had almost 100 miles on it. :pissed:

I use the K&N filters, IIRC wix makes them, i primarily use it because it's approved for synthetic oils, and it has the 1" nut for easy install and removal

Fram sucks.. I've seen brand new filters out of the box with orange paint chips on the inside of the filter. I've also seen them explode on a mild street motor.
