Reading about it they said the front 1/8th was just over 1 second, which seemed weird. My only guess was that it was like 0-350 almost instantly and then it just essentially stops accelerating.

It would need to average a higher speed over the front half than the back half for that to be true. I'm thinking they just screwed up when they wrote it. Or it's hitting 450 mph really fast and then lifting at the 1/8th and coasting through...but I doubt that. Maybe the author was using his creative license.
