i have a '00 GTP, with a 3.4" pulley. right now it's got a Goodyear "Gator Back" belt on it but at some time (before the car was mine) it started to slip off and there is a whole row of teeth missing from it so i am going to replace it. just wondered what it the best belt, or least likely to slip i guess.

Gates

do they make one for a smaller pulley? i didn't see one on their page. i know the gator back one i have is a 66" 6 rib belt so do i just order the same size in any manufacture?

I have no idea what all they make, I run a 106". Just search for a 66" belt there is a code the belts go by, where the last few numbers reference the size. Once you figure that out google it up. I will say sometimes you can't find an even size in some belts and you have to go down a fraction of an inch etc. So if the last part of the part number for a 66.0" is 0660 you might have to try and find 0655 or 0657 etc. and those might even equal a 66" in reality.

PS there has to be at least 50 GTPs with smaller pulleys in Lansing  Someone local has to know the exact part number you need for the different belts.

Gatorbacks are junk for blower belts, why would you want to loose all that belt contact??

Gates

sounds like gates is the winner, did some resurch and found this [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Gates-K060660-Multi-V-Groove-Belt/dp/B000C2UJPC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=A139T64LTDCRO8&s=generic&qid=1243575328&sr=1-1"]http://www.amazon.com/Gates-K060660-Multi-V-Groove-Belt/dp/B000C2UJPC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&m=A139T64LTDCRO8&s=generic&qid=1243575328&sr=1-1[/ame]

look right? do any motown sponsors sell gates stuff? i'd rather spend local.

Rieko can get Gates. Also Napa stores carry Gates.

If you can find one Gates makes a series of HD belt that are green and blue.

From my experience, the Gatorback is the best belt, but they don't last long. I get about a year out of one before it starts slipping, and I think it's due to the rubber drying out with the heat cycles over that time. The Gates that came with my Magnacharger kit slipped from day 1, and the Gatorbacks seem to hold well for me. If I have a belt slip issue, it is mostly due to decelerating the blower than powering it. It's a lot of rotating mass to slow down during fast A4 upshifts.
