i'd like to do TC swap between my trucks. but my problem is that they both use different types of fluid. fill and drain a few times or what? TC has Ford Mercon ATF in it and i want to put it in a truck with Mopar ATF+4
When you remove the converter, just flip it over on the bench and drain out as much as you can. You will be able to drain more than 50%. Mixing the 2 will harm nothing.
Im assuming this is a late model lock up style converter.
If its a old school non lock up torqueconverter, a drain plug can be installed and the converter can be placed on a converter flusher and cleaned.
yeah, it's a lock up type. i figured i'd throw in a quart of the new stuff, slosh it around and drain it as best as possible. i also have a Mighty-Vac i can use.
Lock up converters can be drilled and powerflushed, but its a pain in the ass to do it.
In your case, its just not nessasary-mixing a very small amount of atf4 & mecron will harm absoulty nothing. You can even mix in a quart or 2 of engine oil and it will do no harm.
