"Here" is the Detroit Metro and surrounding areas.

The best beach in Michigan (IMHO) is in Empire, about 30 minutes West of Traverse City. It is a National Park beach, not a state park. What that means is alcohol is allowed (no glass) and bonfires are permitted right in the sand.

Around here, I like Pontiac Lake.

there are no good beaches around here for swimming. but to hang out and bbq try metro beach or stoney creek..
