BaT (bring a trailer)

I used it to buy a Jeep and tried to sell my Chevelle on it. They wanted the reserve to be at 35k and I wanted 55k, so they didn't let me put it on there. The funny thing is that a dealer bought the car from me and sold it on BAT for 85k and originally had the reserve set at 100k. YES, that dealer sells quite a few cars on BAT.

So, if you are going to sell it with a reserve, they may not allow you to set the reserve where you think it should be.

That being said, everything went well when I bought the Jeep and there weren't any issues whatsoever. I haven't heard any real complaints about it.

Just my .02....grr

Like I mentioned - They said a 64 Chevelle isn't very desirable and wouldn't allow me to have the reserve I wanted, no matter what I told them I did to the car...

Below is my car and while the dealer added some billet aluminum things and changed the seats, it is pretty much how I had it. I kept the engine compartment and interior a bit more stock looking, but I did all of the mechanicals...

My neighbor sells vintage Alpha Romeo cars all the time on that site. Must be something good about it.

I tried to sell an Aprilia RS motorcycle on there, they didn’t accept it.

I’ve bid on a few cars with the intent to buy but last minute bid increment were several thousand per bid putting prices out or reach and out of reason for that vehicle.

Crazy money on that site, best explanation I have seen is “weed money”. Good for sellers tough to be a buyer although I watch auction all the time.

Also some of the comments are priceless.

Have you checked out CarsandBids?

I assumed that the last few years they were just in existence for money laundering. You see the same vehicles show up all the time.

I have sold on BaT previously. I think it's attractive because of the large pool of buyers and easily shareable nature of the listings but it's not without risk. Lotta flakes out there.

There is definitely shill bidding on the site, which I'm seeing more and more on the expensive stuff.

I wonder if they would accept a project (rusted, but nearly complete)
1967 Sunbeam Tiger?

She was stored & basically untouched since the mid 1970's.

That sunbeam is one of my favorte cars. Nice score, shame it's so rusty but I've fixed worse. What are the plans with it?

I think I posted this twice, sorry.

theres a screening process on it.... have you thought about ebay motors at all? I have had good luck with them in the recent year or so

The family knows BaT or Ebay would most likely yield the highest value,
but they are out of state and are simply trying to get a reasonable value,
not necessarily the absolutely highest value, but not a fire sale either.

It's looking like they are getting very close to figuring out the asking price.

Well I've signed up, photo shoot on the 21st, it should get listed by the end of the month. Wish me luck.
