Baseball Season

Tomorrow officially marks the start of a new year in baseball. The first game will be the New York Yankees vs the Boston Red Soxs. The pitchers will be C.C. Sabathia, who was 19-9 and 2nd in Cy Young voting, up against Josh Beckett, who can sling it with the best of them. The game starts at 8:00pm on ESPN. This game with either be an offensive explosion, a pitchers duel, or a blowout. That is normally what all Yankees vs Soxs games are. I have a feeling that this game will not disappoint.

As for our Tigers. They open up there season in Kansas City. It will be Justin Verlander who was 19-9 #1 in the league in strikeouts and 3rd in era. He will be toeing the rubber against Zack Grienke. Who is the current Cy Young winner and can really bring it.

This year I can see the Tigers winning the division only if we have a healthy season and Magglio can go back to his 2006 ways of hitting. I really love the youth we brought to are team. I feel this boost of youth will give the Tigers speed and the ability to start playing small ball and not always depend homeruns. The White Soxs are the biggest threat to the Tigers this year. Then the Twins. Those teams have pitching especially the White Soxs. They will have the once Cy Young winner Jake Peavy all year. Mark Burhle, and Gavin Floyd as there 1,2,3 pitchers. That is a pretty strong 1-3. The Twins lost the Tiger killer Joe Nathan so that will help but they have the other Tiger killer Carl Pavano. Plus Mauer and Morneau, that will help any team win.

As for the Royals and Indians. The Indians in three years will be a threat mark my words. They have young talent like no other. The Royals, just to many inconsistencies on there team. No one to help Grienke, and they just traded away Mark Thean.

I see the magic number in the central in gonna be 90 games. First one to 90 wins takes the division. Lets just hope the Tigers start fast and don't waste a 7 game lead again. I can't wait for my MLB TV haha

As always LETS GO TIGERS!!!! Lets have a good season boys!

Im stoked for ball season! We had our first practice for my team today and things are looking good for us. I should have bought my new mit a while ago tho. i bought it like a week ago and its still needs alot more break in time.

Aren't all baseball games either an offensive explosion (both teams are scoring), a pitchers duel (neither team is scoring) or a blowout (one team is scoring)?

Go mariners :) hoping griff has a huge year! Cause it might be his last, and then I'm done with baseball

Yeah buddy! I pretty much like every team, save for the Yankees. Not a fan of them.

I'm more of a Tigers/Braves/Twins fan. Yes, I like the Tigers AND Twins.

I don't see the tigers winning the division or wild card

Thats what people said last year, and they came up one game short. No one wins the wild card in the AL except the Yankees and Red Soxs. So in the AL you either have to win your division or your not making the playoffs. It is gonna be a 1-2 finish in the AL East again this year. Yankees or Soxs sitting at the top with 95 or 98 wins. One will win the division and the other one will have the wild card spot locked up.

The Tigers could win the division though. We have good young talent now, and more speed on the basepaths. Mags has gotta hit. Inge needs to take a rest now and then to conserve his knees, so he does not have a breakdown like last year. Are pitching, well no one can really say. Bonderman has had limited time since returning from injury. Willis, well he is just Willis, you never know what you get from that guy.

I see the Tigers putting Willis back down in the minors after 7 starts, and handing the ball to either Zach Miner, or see what Ryan Perry, or Fu Ti Ni can do.

The AL central is by far the weakest division to play in. Anyone can win in that division. The Tigers do have a possibility to win it. But by August and early September if the Tigers start dropping lots and lots of games as the usually do, I can see the White Soxs or Twins eatting us up again. The only thing that is gonna help the Tigers is, The White Soxs only really have Jake Peavy. They traded and got rid of a few key players. But they got some pretty soild hitters back, but nothing that the Tigers pitching can not handle. Twins allways beat up on the Tigers, but without Nathan slamming the door at the end there is a good chance to have a few more close wins.

All I am saying is never say never in the AL central.
