Awd lsx s10

I mocked up the fender flares with some 200mph tape. I dont want to install them unitl I have a chance to dye them black. They are a shitty color of grey at the moment.

I braved the cold a few times and got some work done. I installed PS lines, radiator and e-fans, wired the harness and fan relays. I got the oil filter and drain plug in (not an easy task) and installed new poly cab mounts along with centering the body on the frame to within an 1/8". Installed new trans lines and shift cable bracket.

With the warm weather on Sunday I was able to get it fired up, a successful first start! I have a few problems though. I pulled a code P1125 from the PCM (accel pedal intermittent) and the accel pedal wont respond so, all I have is fast idle, no revs. From what I've read, this could be a wiring issue so Ill check all of the pin-outs before I try to replace the pedal or tac module unless someone has 03-06 versions of these to lend?

I'm pretty sure the accelerator pedal position sensor and tac module are programmed to work with each other.
So you might have to replace both at the same time and make sure they come from the same truck, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I've been doing a lot of research on the accelerator pedal position sensor, tac and throttle body since my truck (03 silverado 5.3) is having a "reduced engine power" message come up in the mornings. When it does this all I have is a fast idle like your truck. I shut it off, wait 1 minute or less and fire it back up and its good to go. I've checked most of the wiring but still can't rule that out

You can search P1125 or "reduced engine power" and have hours of topics to look at.
Once you get it fixed be sure to post it in here, maybe it will help me figure mine out.

Why the DBW setup? :dontknow: I would think a cable setup would give it a more "real" feeling when you hit the pedal and you'd not have to worry about getting stranded should something happen with the dbw setup.

Thanks, Ill read your link. I've read quite a bit about it. I'm relatively sure its something simple. The tac module and pedal just have to be from a similar model i.e. a truck model in my case. The wiring harness is new so there is a chance its wired incorrectly. This will be the first thing to check.

Well the engine is a '04 so it came with DBW. All of the LS swaps I've done have been DBW and this is the first time I've had a problem. All of the hardware Im using is OEM, other than the harness, so reliability isnt a concern. No reason for me to justify the cost of switching to a cable setup just for the feel.

For wheels, I say go with 17x11 zr1 replicas on all 4 corners :). Should pull like mad with the all wheel drive :)

Thanks b.lee, this was a good link to help with the diagnosis. I was able to resovle this issue this weekend. Once I get some pics, ill post what the issue was. It ended up not being anything eletrical. I have also confirmed the the pedal sensor and the TAC module are not programed to the ECM. They are all interchangable as long at the year range and model type are the same. So for mine, years 03-05 and truck type.

I've made a ton of progress the last few days. With the exhuast, I would have had to tow it someplace to have the work done. I decided to go the DIY route instead and bought a cheap 90 amp welder from Harbour Frieght. My welds look like crap as I've never really welded before but I am slowly getting the hang of it. Im sure they wont leak though. This isnt a show truck anyway so... fuck it. The routing is actually coming out pretty nice too. I might have to do the mufflers and back section in the summer to match the front section Im doing now. Oh, and I got the drive shafts in from Shaftmasters and they fit well.

Nice work on the problem solving! My suggestion would be to tack it all together, practice your welds in your spare time, and THEN weld everything up solid after you've gotten the hang of it. I don't mean (or want) to sound like I'm criticizing your work, but the welds look like a potential point of failure. It would suck to go through all the work you did just to have part of the exhaust fall down while you're driving and cause damage.
That being said, I really like this build- great work!

Thanks for the comments man. I see your point. I have been practicing and I have inspected all the joints Ive done thus far and feel extremely confident in the penetration and strength. The welder is a cheapo using solid core wire so it pops quite a bit. I've made peice with the appearence haha. I hope to have this damn thing on the road by next weekend... possibly before.
 
So I got the exhuast finished up, installed some radiator hoses and filled fluids. I unfortunaltey have mixed news. First of all, the 5.3 rips for cam only. I took it for a couple shake down drives around block and it did well. I finished the night by backing into the garage and matting it. It clawed its way out of the garage in a fucking hurry even with shit tires and sllcik concrete. The bad news is, the following day, I was doing some more laps around the block to feel confident in driving a decent distance away from the house when I lost 3 and 4th gear. Im looking at a couple options right now to upgrade the 4l70, hopefully soon before the real cruising season hits.
 
Check your fluid level before yanking the trans first, glad to hear it on the ground and running!

Yea, I've changed it twice now. I found some water in the fluid, probably from sitting, that may have contributed to the failure. It'll get built here soon, I just have to scrape some cash togther. Really dreading yoyo-ing the trans more than anything.
 
I have a trans out of an 03 Silverado, ran fine when we pulled it. Pm if interested.

What was the resolution... pics are cool but I'm dying to know what worked for you.
My truck only seems to do the reduced engine power in cold weather... it hasn't happened since winter, but all the sudden it did it to me one day earlier this week.
