I started this project with the goal of being cheap and fun with a JY 5.3l and a T5 in the 91 2wd s10. It kind of snow balled after I saw a TBSS trans and t-case on craigslist. I couldnt resist. So...here is the project so far, slightly abridged.

The start:

Started body work on the hood and tailgate here recently, hood is pretty rough but hopefully I can save it:

Something tells me the previous owner of this hood was a little anti-social...

Jeep steering shaft installed along with headers bolted up and other misc items:

I sent out the ecu for a tune yesterday so hopefully I'll see that soon. I just need some trans lines, rad hoses and a little more wiring and I should be firing this thing up soon!

I forgot to mention, I installed a Thunder Racing cam while I had the engine on the stand. What does it take to break in the cam on an LSX?

Roller cams are hardened, so there is no need to wear in a pattern like the old flat tappet cams. Crank the motor with the fuel/ignition disconnected and the plugs out to prime it a bit. Plug everything thing in and fire it up!..

Thanks guys! I appreciate the comments!

Cool project man! Any updates?
No work done yet but, I did receive some stuff in the mail. I cant wait to bolt this stuff on but I am a pansy when it comes to cold so I'll wait for the weather to ease up a bit. I finally found a guy in TX that had these factory flares. It took forever to find a set. S10 people think they are gold for some reason. They should help bridge the gap from the fenders to the tires until I can get new wheels. It looks like the flares will add 1" outward and 1/2" down making the truck look lower.
