Autorama rant

If you don't want to be identical to all the other 50 produced, make it your own. Modify it, hell make it street legal, something to set it apart from its 49 identical brothers and sisters.

I understand the car is rare, but I always thought ot Autorama as a CUSTOM car show, not a concours de elegance.

I only had one car I used to take to shows back in the day, They just became boring sitting there all day. I'd rather be driving the car (not that you can drive the CJ on the street). I go to shows like that looking for ideas for my own cars. I don't think I'll ever own another "show car."

You want to be Different. Take the "OTHER" CJ car, (I think it's your fathers/uncles someones) the one you had at the CJ unveiling.
THAT car will definitely turn some heads

Judging for that stuff is ridiculous. Especially on the Ridler. A few years back when the TV shows started making a REALLY big deal about the Ridler they showed the judging for it. Those judges were feeling the cars for things that couldn't be seen. If you are in a class with a lot of other nice cars, they have to nit pick the shit out of things to differentiate the cars. I know there is a little political BS that goes on with these type of thigns too but you've got a bunch of close to perfect cars competing so they have to nit pick. A friend of my dad's, Dale Boesh had a car up for the Riddle several years ago. The only thing written on his judging sheet was "dust on top of u-joints". The epitome of we can't find anything wrong with any of these cars to me.

My dad had a 55 Mercury panel truck he ran for ISCA points one winter in the mid-80's. Spent a lot of time around the show car stuff. And I wonder why I'm suck a picky mother fucker when it comes to car stuff. :lol:

the management of autorama for years has given the soap box derby a booth

and even sponsored the race in the 60's and 70's

they are not giving us one this year

because they are sold out of booth space (cough,bullshit,cough)

their idea to draw kids to this thing is to have idiots running around in dora the explorer costumes
and have the allmost a star side kick from hannah montana
( blow me )

anybody have space that they could share so we can pass out info on derby racing?

Damn, that sucks. Even the lame stairwell spot was better than getting the shaft.

Varsity Ford has/had a few, not Matt. Matt's arranging the showing of the car at Autorama.
 
When did Matt buy a Cobra Jet? If that's true, good for him. :thumbup:
