Thought I would share a pretty awesome event I just went to with Audi. I know a lot of us are American only cars, however Audi is making some bad ass cars.
The event was held at Autobahn County Club some place near Chicago I dont recall what city. It is basically a county club for rich dudes that build sweet barns (man caves) that house their car's. It has two tracks so owners can keep their car in their 5,000 sq. ft. barn and bring them out on the track whenever they want. It was an awesome place.
Sorry for the bad pictures, they were just from my cell phone. It was a two day event, the first day we got to take an Audi TTS, A4, S4, S5, S6, S7, and S8 through this motocross they set up with a figure eight in the middle. The cars handle amazingly with the Quattro. You never get above 80 MPH but you are throwing the cars thru and around corners... So much fun lol. They timed us all and we went head to head it was pretty competitive they took away a second for every cone you hit and you had to stop within the box at the end, if you went over the box it was a 5 second penalty so you had to time slamming on the brakes just right.
We also got to ride along in a couple different R8 V10 models with professional drivers, on the straight we were doing 160+ mph. These guys could drive, it was just a game to them they were trying to race each other as we went 3 at a time. At one point my R8 touched mirrors with the R8 next to me as they tried to pass us after the apex. Hard day at the office for these guys, how do you get that job? I tried to take some in car vids on one of the laps but just turned out like crap, as you would imagine.
After that we got to drive the S6 (4.0 twin turbo V8 420 HP 0-60 4.4 sec), S7 (same engine) and S8 (4.0 twin turbo V8 520 HP 0-60 3.8 sec) on the same track. During the straights we would hit 140 ( I know nothing crazy fast), you could drive the cars so hard and they handled amazingly. Mid-way through the apex you just gun it and it pulls its self out of the turn all wheels just smoking. Pretty bad ass.
That�s it, pictures below. On some of the videos you could hear the brakes trying to cool off. We hot lapped those cars for hours, HARD, with no brake fade to speak off. Pretty amazing. I drive a 2013 Audi A4, and it is a blast to drive, the S models are just plain sweet.
