Attn people that store their car and drop the liability for winter be careful....the state is cracking down on people driving without ins, if you drop your insurance like to store your car and it falls around your birthday the state might try to drop your registration

I don't know with historical plates etc

The only difference was that they would require proof of insurance be sent in when getting new plates, where the other cars plates only required the PIN number they give you.

Just my .02.....grr

Well, one of my cars is in the wife's name and her birthday IS in Oct and mine is in Jan and as I mentioned, all I do is send in the proof of insurance and I get the tags. But, I do keep fire and theft on the car all year....

I have AAA if that means anything at all...grr

My Bday's Mar31, because of this new cracking down they gave me such a hard time this year.... AND they made me buy a new plate, so I had to go into a SOS. I have 4 or 5 car/tucks/campers/motorcycles/min vans all on the same policy. I'm not the guy I think they are after..... The beiotch behind the counter needs to use some common sense....

rant over
thank you

So...taking the plate from the Mustang we sold (which was in wife's name, December bday) and transferring it to the V when it expires in July (my birthday) is a bad idea?

I guess in July I still skate in on the old lower registration fee and in December we'd have to put the new registration fee so the savings of transferring that plate for a few months are probably about a wash anyway.

I've never had a problem. I do this process:

I have the car on the road & insure it through the fall
and buy the new plate late Fall. I then remove all
insurance and store the car for Winter.

Birthday is the first of the year, plate is current. I then reinstate
the insurance in the Spring, plate is still current.

So the car always has a current plate, but only has insurance
about half the year - never a problem.

A buddy of mine who is older and retired let the insurance lapse on his car because he couldn't afford it any longer. A month later a letter from the state came stating that he needs to destroy his plate as it no longer is registered with the state.

Value of vehicle will determine if coverage is worth it. Who the hell is in charge of all these craptastic "laws" ?

Can we ban the sales of velcro adult shoes and make it mandatory for any politician that goes out to eat that they must sit within 4' of a restroom at a restaurant?

Regulate how much and type of toilet paper politicians use?
