So lets just say I buy a Nextel cup car... Is it as easy as throwing lights, wipers and horn in it to make it street legal or is there more to it? Also how do you go about it since the car does not have a title, and can you even get insurance? Just weighing some options...
The state would have to assign a VIN number to the car to get it registered. You'll also need insurance. You will not get comp and collision because an insurance company will not insure a race car (and it IS a race car). But if you get PL/PD, you might get away without having pictures taken or an inspection of the car (or you might not). Then you'll need license plates.
A car has to have DOT tires with tread. You need a speedometer. You'll need DOT seat belts. You'll need lights, including side markers and license plate lamps. You'll need wipers, a horn, and DOT glass (no, polycarbinate(sp) is not legal). You'll need an extreme amount of good luck, all while killing the value of the car.
if you can mount a plate to it in michigan you can get it legal, wipers lights, and heater are the big ones easiest way to do it, get a VIN from a "different" car and move some parts from it over then you just "rebuilt" the old car
technically, a defroster is required, not a heater per sayMy luck isn't that good. A heater is a requirement? Might have to rig up a VW air cooled style heater to pass...
Hmmmmm..I have a legal 'Assembled' Michigan title (in MY name, from about 1980) that could come with something better than a Nextel cup car! That would be my full tube chassis race car with an LS1, of course.........

I'll just give the title with the car, for someone to use however they see fit...
