Ok so i got new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor, on today and while i was in the process i took off the AIR pump and capped the lines coming out of the manifold after gettin someone elses mess cleaned up (They set the timing on #4 cyl and had the firing order all friddeg up) ive got the timing order correct allt he wires going to the right place and the base timing set at 6*. The car idles great now at aroun 900-1000rpm in nuteral and around 800 under load. Now when i drive the car it backfires like crazy and i can put the pedal to the floor and it wont rev more then 2500 or so and just backfires more

From my experience this sounds like a MAF problem? i found one vaccume line unplugged plugged it in and did no good, my buddy put the air intake back one so im going to recheck that the MAF is plugged in but im 99.99% sure it is

OK sounds good thatll be first hting i try tommrow what exactly is limp mode?
When the ecm detects a failing sensor it reverts to a preset (open loop) set of tables that its set to run on to "limp home" .

Also is it throwing a CE light? If so pull the codes and go from there.

Ok great There is no check engine light which also confuses me

No it turns on, if you floor it itll come on for a second once it hits around 3800 and up then itll stay on till you let out of it then turns back off after 20seconds or so

NO i cant say i did that, (since i didnt) i try re timing it ill look for the connector i was wondering if there was anyhting i was supposed to unplugg to time it

It should be a tan or brown wire with a barrel style weatherpack connector on the firewall near the passenger side.

Tan with Black stripe. Loacated near the Heater Box in the main harness. Its a single wire with a single barrel weather Pack. Should be set 6btdc if the engine has some wear issues it might need a bit more intial to get running good.

And i THINK you time it to zero, no advance.

Thats the later 92 up TBI trucks. His cars base timming spec is 6 btdc with the base timming or EST bypass unplugged. I even checked the prom to see what the intial is supposed to be. In every $32b mask rom i have its 6 btdc EST disconnected.

Well i was just out qworkin on it again and i cant get anywhere its still running like shit the timing is set properly and i tried unplugging the MAF it has absolutly no power and knocks all over the place when i try to drive it

Double check the firing order. Set #1 at tdc, r&r the distributor so that the rotor points to 1.. firing order is 18436572

recheck your vac routing. If there is a slight leak it will backfire. If there is an exhaust leak it will backfire. All that shit has to be airtight. Hopefully its something simple.
