Armed Forces Memorial Day Race : Fallen Heroes 500

The Bob Frahm Community Racing Challenge and Fallen Heroes/Lest They Be Forgotten.org are hosting on May 26th, 2007 at Springport Motor Speedway the 2007 Fallen Heroes 500 Memorial Race.

This exciting racing challenge pits six Mid-Michigan Active Service Members representing Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Army National Guard in a ten-lap Stock Car race to benefit Michigan's Fallen Heroes of Iraq.

The families of Army Spc Donald L. Wheeler of Concord; Marine LCpl Troy D. Nealey of Eaton Rapids; and Marine Reserve LCpl Brent E. Beeler of Napoleon will be honored at the track with a special Color Guard ceremony and fly over. All proceeds will be donated to Michigan Chapter of "Lest They Be Forgotten" specifically in names of the Wheeler, Nealey & Beeler family and for the construction of hometown memorials to honor these brave men from Mid-Michigan, who have lost their lives defending the United States of America in the war against terrorism.

The Fallen Heroes 500 is a "Featured Heat" event and part of the regularly scheduled slate of races taking place every Saturday evening at Springport Motor Speedway. Pony Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Sportsmen class events will also be racing on May 26th

The Bob Frahm Community Racing Challenge is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meaningful support to local non-profit organizations in the form of fundraising and team building events. Directed by Grass Lake resident Patrick McNamara, the Community Racing Challenge hopes to foster not only new interest in local short track racing, but enhance the relationship between drivers, owners, local businesses and the citizens of our community.

NOTE: May 19th, 2007 is The Bob Frahm Community Racing Challenge MADD Police Chase. This exciting racing challenge pits six Mid-Michigan Law Enforcement Officers in a ten-lap Stock Car race to benefit Michigan's Mother's Against Drunk Driving Organization.

Participating in this years event are Eaton Rapid's Police Chief Paul Malewski, Eaton County Deputy Bruce Yelvington, Lansing Police Sergeant Ryan Cressman, East Lansing Sergeant Scott Wrigglesworth, Jackson Police Officer Peter Postma and Blackman Township Officer Joe Merritt.

Michigan Mother's Against Drunk Driving is the featured charity for this event hosted by Homer Smith of MADD Michigan. Utilizing C.R.C. event vouchers half of the proceeds of each race ticket are donated to Mother's Against Drunk Driving. These vouchers are available online at www.communityracingchallenge.com or available from Michigan MADD Office or from any of the officers participating in the event.

May is prom season, high school graduations are in full swing, and it's the beginning of the summer driving season. It also marks the month when increased drunk driving incidents occur on our roads. Please help Mother's Against Drunk Driving and Mid-Michigan's Law Enforcement Community mission to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
