ok i just came aross a mustang for sale 1995 5.0 with an aode. The guy said he has had the trans rebuilt recently and has paper work and blah blah but the trans isnt shifting properly. He thinks its a sensor issue. He said it is possibly the throttle valve. He said he can manually shift the car and sometimes it shifts fine. Anyone have any experience with a throttle valve sensor? Is it in the trans? He said he had the trans re looked at and mechanically its cool. How hard is it to replace the sensor? Thanks in advance guys

it also has 373 gears which might be leading to the problem> ive been doing some reading on all of these sensors. I'm in westland where is a good aode shop that wont cause me a arm and a leg?

If there is a problem with shifting, unless its a wiring issue, its likely a internal problem. Could be improper shift kit install.

If you want call me tommorow. I work on ALOT of 4r70w's AOD's and AODE's.

well I havent bought the car yet. He has receipts and said he has had the trans redone twice and looked at again and it has 3000 miles on it. ive been doing some reading and im hoping that it might be the a speed sensor or range sensor or even a tps. I guess the trans can act up after a gear swap also it seems like 94 95 mustangs are a pain

I've heard the same from Baumann, seems like when anything with the gear set is change, i.e. rear gears, trans gears, tire size they get goofed up....
Sensors are easy, but if its not the problem then doesnt really matter

its really hard to diagnose with such vauge information. The range switch can cuase alot of goofy behavior and you'd be surprised how often they act up. Honestly though I have seen LOTS of problems with certain shift kits being installed improperly. The AOD family of transmissions are pretty durable properly prepped. If it needed going through and it didn't need alot of parts it could be fixed relatively inexspensively. I am pretty sure I have a valve body for that model year to test with if it looks like a VB issue.

Speed sensor problem are a potential sore spot, but I haven;t seen massive issues. More range switch and problems with the wiring harness connectors or shift kit instal botching.

Ya it has a shift kit in it i guess it was rebuilt by driveline performance out in hazel park. Im waiting for him to tell me what kind of shift kit it was.
