HOT ROD Magazine and the Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau are pleased to announce a new location for the Tuesday, June 9th stop of the HOT ROD Magazine Power Tour® in Detroit. The new venue will be Metro Beach Metropark, a 770-acre park on Lake St. Clair located east of Mt. Clemens in Macomb County.

Edit: might as well post the entire thing...

With the 2009 HOT ROD Power Tour® presented by GM Performance Division only three weeks away, the staffs of HOT ROD Magazine and Family Events are making final preparations and plans in accordance with a late-venue change.

While Power Tour was scheduled to stop at the General Motors Warren Technical Center on Tuesday, June 9th, GM has decided not to host the stop on the tour, so that their employees can remain focused on restructuring GM for success in the future. Our friends at GM sincerely regret the timing of this decision.

"Over the past 15 years, we've learned that even with the best planning and attention to details, there will always be surprises with Power Tour," said Jerry Pitt, Publisher of HOT ROD Magazine. "Thanks to the efforts of our hardworking team and our partners at the Detroit Convention and Visitors Bureau we were able to find an excellent location in close proximity to the GM Technical Center in Warren. No hotel accommodation changes will be necessary as the new venue, Metro Beach Metropark, is less than 22 miles from the GM Technical Center."

This 770-acre park situated on a peninsula on Lake St. Clair is located east of Mt. Clemens, MI in Macomb County. With an ample parking facility, the nature preserve offers more than seven miles of shore line. Additionally, with easy access from I-94 from exit 236, the three-mile drive east on Metro Parkway (16 Mile Road) leads into the park's entrance.

Additionally, the City of Warren has planned an after-hours cruise in Warren, Michigan in close proximity to the hotel accommodations.

HOT ROD will be mailing participant confirmation letters this week that include all route directions including the route to the new venue. The forums at HOTROD.com will also provide real-time answers to participant and spectator questions.

Not sure what I am going to do. Most likely ADRL in Martin, MI on Saturday and the Power Tour on Sunday. Skip the NHRA race in Joliet this year? All on the same weekend.

Looks like we will have the monte out in mt. clemens and the plan is to put it on the chip in front of the crowd. Should be a good time.

I'd love to do this.. The new car will be able to do this hoping to be able to place top 5 in the pump gas drags as well when its done.

I've got a few friends in Wisconsin, so it looks like we are going to head out Friday afternoon.

Kenny put this together, I think he did a pretty sweet job!
