Anyone replace the valve lash adjusters on a 4.6L 2-Valve in vehicle without removing the cam?

I have a feeling a lash adjuster has failed on my 2002 Mustang GT. Has anyone performed the procedure on the vehicle without removing the cam? I have seen youtube videos of people popping the rocker with a screwdriver then pulling the adjuster out with pliers. although it did look like they applied a lot of pressure on the cam lobe with a bare metal screwdriver. Has anyone had luck with this or have any stories of what to look out for?

I did it on my old 4v cobra in car. Put some rubber fuel hose around the shank of the screwdriver and you'll be alright. It helps if the follower is on the base circle of the lobe too lol.

Going to give it a shot. picked up a mechanics stethoscope and pinpointed to the rear of the drivers side valve cover. gonna pull the cover this weekend. has anyone used any sealed power items from advance auto? they have the lash adjusters for $50/set of 8 with discount code.

you can buy the in-car spring compressor as well, use it to compress the spring enough to slip the follower/rocker out

Witch style compressor do you like? Looking for one that will allow me to keep the cam installed. Probably going to replace the valve seals while i'm in there.

That's the one, it hooks to the cam on either side of the lobe

I like the design. basic yet effective. a little worried about the rear cylinders nearest to the firewall. With the booster on one side and the ac system components on the other. Does this create an interference issue?

Gonna try this out. Same basic design but smaller. Might help with back cylinders. Are these models stable durring use or is it easy to accidentally slide the fork off the spring?
