Anyone know of a family in need for the holiday season in wayne or oakland counties?

This year my family would like to help another family out. We can't do a whole lot but I'm sure every little bit helps. I'd rather not do this through state or city programs as I want to be sure that we helping people who are truly in need.

There are normally organizations looking for help, if anyone knows of any please post. I usually donate thru my office but since I am now in the field I don’t have the same channels to get involved, but its something I have done almost every year for about twenty years and sometimes the appreciate the needing family has, has made not only my Christmas but my year.

Good for you & your family!

My family did this a few years ago when I knew of a needy family
Who lived up in northern Michigan. I was simply prepared to drive
on the day before Christmas & drop off the clothes, toys & food.

I decided to tell others & let them know about this needy family &
what I was doing & gave them the opportunity to join in the giving.

I couldn’t believe how many folks (including MM) jumped in on this.
I filled my Suburban with tons of gifts – including a large cash gift from
some business owners.

It was one of the best Christmas’ I ever had! The joy was overfilling!

My wife and I take two or three tags from the Salvation Army tree at Westland Mall and buy stuff for the kids. I guarantee those kids have a great Christmas.

Worse case if you are looking to help, we are doing a food drive for a local church here at work. We are collecting until December 13th and taking everything in that weekend. If you would like to donate to it, any non perishable foods are accepted. We are located in Troy (14 and Dequindre) and you can PM me with any questions. I sponsored a family with my parents the last year they still live in Michigan, and I have to say I got more joy out of the family having a Xmas dinner, clothes, and toys then I did my own presents I got for xmas. It really put a lot of things into perspective.

I'm doing a project on the 7th in Farmington Hills where we are remodeling a room for a terminally ill child. I have never been part of something like this, but when the lady I work with started talking about it, I knew I had to at a minimum be there to help bring some joy to this little girls life. Something about the holidays... kinda makes me feel selfish all the other months of the year.
