Anyone know much about Lemon Laws on leases??

I just took my 2013 Dodge Journey to the dealer this morning for the 6th time in 5 months for the same issue. I just picked it up from the dealer 11 days ago for the same problem. It is a transmision issue and shifting when it damn well wants to. I can drive 9 days without a problem (even though I feel something strange in the shifts). Then all of a sudden it starts shifting back into first at 25 miles and hour. Or I could be driving 45 miles an hour and have it shift into 2nd gear and have rpm's hover at 4500. On the days it starts doing this the check engine light will finally come on. They have replaced modules, speed sensors, flashed PCM, replaced wire harness to trans, changed internal parts. I believe over the past 5 months it has been at the dealers about 45 days and counting. This is a lease that I have another year and a half on. I have basically to afraid to drive it too far from the house this whole summer.

Is there someone at Chrysler i can call? I want out of this lease!!!! Anyone have experiences similar where Chrysler did a buy back?

Have you tried customer service yet? I had a Chevy that was at the dealer more than on the road. I called a lawyer, all it took was a letter from him and GM paid his fee, took the truck back and gave me a dicount on a new GM product.

they wont buy it back if you've owned it for more than 12 months. But you can file a suite with a lemon law lawyer for loss of time, and value. I am in the middle of one of these suite right now with Ford. Contact a lawyer and start the process.

make sure you have every document for every visit. I went through this on a Toyota in the mid 2000's. In the end, I got a 10k check from Toyota then promptly sold the pile.

You must contact customer service with your issue. When doing ford buyback resolution, that was one of the requirements to get the process started.

Usually, since it is a lease, there is more room for them to work with you, since the car will be turned back in at the end of the lease (unless you wanted to buy it)

Like mentioned above, make a call to customer service, you have a very good claim and reason to be upset. They will deal with the dealership directly for you.

Well its been there 6 times so its documented go beat the shit outta it and see if it breaks or just drive it till you turn it in. At least you didnt buy it. Does it only do it with cruise control on? Because my wifes chryler 200 will downshift going down big hills like 2 gears and rev to like 4500

At any point in time, was the vehicle there for longer than 30 days?

Also, you have a little more ammo favoring your side of the battle. The dealership acknowledged there was an issue by making a repair attempt.

Never 30 days at one time. Just 7 to 13 days each time. The one time they had it 7 days and replaced some stuff. I picked it up Friday before they closed. Drove it 4 miles to get home. 1 mile before the house it started acting up and check engine light came back on. They had it for another 7 days after I dropped it off on a Monday.

The last time Chrysler Star got involved they replaced wire harness to trans.
I have owned Chrysler's for 15 years. Never a problem like this. I don't blame the dealer either. They are changing parts based on codes.

What dealership are you dealing with? I hope its not Van Dyke Dodge. Cause that place SUCKS!!!

I personally have been successful with making Chrysler buy back two different vehicles. The difference is that these were vehicles I bought not leased. A lease is a different animal all together. Your best bet is to continue to take it back for service and eventually have the discussion with the lease company regarding a lease buyout or replacement. Good luck!!

Jaguar gave my mom a new X-Type back in '03 or so because she flat out told them she was scared to drive the car. It had broken down on her 6 times in less than a year. It was also a lease. I would think with a couple calm threats they'll be likey to give you a new car

Would complaining to the bank have any effect? I mean, technically, they own the car. (I don't know, never had this issue).
