Anyone know anything about PPV Tahoes?

I'm going to look at a police edition Tahoe later today and was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about them. This one is a 2005 with 88.5k miles on it. The owner seems to be giving me information that doesn't match up really well to the PPV information that I've found.

Here's his description in the ad:

"I have here a rust free 2005 Tahoe from Arlington Texas. Ronny Coleman was one of the few officers that drove this truck at arlington police department! It was my dad's truck and he gave it to me as a gift a few yrs ago. I have to many vehicles so, I have to let this one go. Tahoe Runs amazing, only has 88,569 miles. Ice cold ac and hot heat! Fully loaded, has the built 5.3L engine and trans is also built. This is a very powerful truck. Drives great, very smooth. Brand new tires, lots of new parts, very quick truck not bad on gas. I bought a property up north so I've been driving up there alot. I've also been driving it up to mackenaw city since 50,000 miles so thats where all the miles came from. Oil changed with mobil 1 full synthetic every 3,000 miles. I have $2,000 in reciepts and warranties done at j and d auto service. Have all maintenance records! Has a clean title and record. No check engine lights! This truck needs nothing, just jump in and drive.

price is $6500 firm cash price. My truck is well worth over $12,500. Come get it while it lasts. thanks for looking! Would consider trades such as 2002 or newer trucks, SUV 4x4 or ATV's, dune buggys,, boats, guns, raptors, rifles, John deer 6 Wheeler etc. and cash on top, what do you got??? If your vehicle is worth an equal value we will trade straight up if I like it! Send pics!! "

And here's what I got in a follow up e-mail:

"The engine is built with the z06 vette heads ported and polished. It has the forged pistons, stock crank, bullet proof oil pan, aluminum intake, bigger fuel injectors, and performance mass air flow sensor. Trans is built with heavy duty gears and clutches. Also is built for high speeds. Rear end is brand new built with a 3.55 posi gear and pinion. New brakes and rotors front and back. Newer goodyear 8in base tires. Runs great, all around a very awesome truck. 390HP 408torque."

As far as I know a truck intake won't bolt to the Z06 heads, and I'm not even sure if Z06 heads would fit in the first place. These power numbers are also no where near the specifications for a police edition Tahoe either.

Appreciate any help

Silly phone posting.

2wd tahoe. Std drivetrain, they got extra cooles. And 99% did not have trailer hitches and there isn't a aftermarket hitch made for one

He mentions 3 times how fast it is. What else do you need to know lol. Sure sounds like a lot of bs. He says he is selling because he has to many cars but yet is willing to trade it for yet another car. He says a 2002 or newer suv.

He says he got it from his dad at 50k. That means his dad likely got the truck when it had lower miles. Most departments I know of keep them longer than 50k.

I noticed that too. But I know I've had to sell because of too many cars, but meet had a problem justifying another anyways haha

I plan on going over it with a fine tooth comb, bringing a jack ad jack stands. If he has nothing to hide he won't mind me jacking up the truck to check under the truck as well as count for the 3.55 rear end.

A bulletproof oil pan...cuz you know, in them high speed chases, the guy shooting at you has such great precision, he can ricochet a bullet clear off the pavement and turn your Tahoe into a fiery mess on the side of the highway.

I just got a Carfax back from an acquaintance, and although it shows no significant problems, it also has no history of being a TX truck.

I see guys get these at auction and flip them b/c they are, like ken said, a reg tahoe with some extra coolers and a 5.3.
only cool thing I have seen in the Police Tahoes are the rear cargo tray that slides...feels like you could throw a full ton on it and slide it back in the truck. the extra dome light is nice too.

The "Z06 heads" (243 castings) would fit and the truck intake would bolt up to it just fine. It's a common upgrade for earlier trucks and actually in 2007 the 5.3s came with them. The valves on the Z06 were different though. He says that it has an aluminum intake. If so, most of those are garbage. The stock plastic ones actually flow pretty well. The runners on the truck intakes are longer than the car ones to make more torque.

That was my favorite part too.

I'm gonna check it out, but if everything looks/feels good and this guy just turns out to be spouting random crap I'll still take it home haha hopefully for a little less, even with his "firm" price.

I found the listing on craigslist. The color matches the tahoes they used for the Pontiac police department. The mileage thing would match up if that was the case. All their old cars were taken out of service once Oakland county pd took over. Seeing as its carfax only shows Michigan I bet it's an old pontiac pd vehicle.

Please take a picture when you call him out on it never having been in Texas and having lived its entire life in Pontiac.

Are there any easy tell-tale signs or casting marks if it has Z06 heads?
243 on the head near the valve cover...not a deal ender, would make a nice starting point for playing with all the cool LSx stuff.
I agree if it has a alum intake ditch it...find a magnacharger and you would have a fun family ride...there is a guy local with one he made into an SS, with a 6.0L and a 112blower, cool ride.

its missing the close out between the grille and core support second battery and hydroboost is nice, Oh these truck are notorious for abs issues
