Anyone into fish/fish tanks here?

My pops had a big tank with a bunch of fish and we'd like to see it go to a good home. I don't know much about fish except that moving a bunch of them is a challenge in itself so we'd like to give it to someone that has experience doing a big move so that the fish have the best chance to survive. He had it setup with automatic feeders and some type of water re-circulation system. I have higher res pictures if that'll help you assess the setup.

Here are a couple pics:

Thanks.

Nice setup. I wish I had the room. That poor Jack Dempsey in with all those African cichlids. Poor fella probably craps rocks with that high pH hard water

Looks pretty badass

Do you have the dimensions? If its 6x2x2 id be interested.
I'll measure it next time I'm over there. Does the fact that it has the three sets of lights on the top tell us anything? Is 2' a standard light width by chance? Like I said, I know next to nothing about this stuff.

I recall hearing both of those fish types from my pops. And I know he said one of the fish would get picked on quite a bit.

Yep. A set of lights for every 2ft length of aquarium is about the standard.

I used to breed cichlids back in the day. Jacks are pretty stout fish that can be aggressive. I've seen some turn out docile raised with smaller fish and I've seen others that had to be by themselves.

IF, you can't find someone to take the whole set up, I would be interested in a couple of the Africans, but I world want to know if their Mbuna, or Malawi.
Maybe a closer pic of them?

I like fishing. I know, irrelevant, but I wish it was spring because I'm having boating withdrawals.

Thanks everyone for the interest. I'm going to give everyone interested a call and find the best fit so please PM me your number if I don't have it already. I feel as if these fish are an extension of my pops and I want them to go to someone that would take care of them like he did. Thanks again! -Sean

I went over to take more pics and noticed one of the Jack Dempseys (I think that's what it is) upside down inside one of the hollowed out rocks. I wasn't sure if it was stuck but it seemed to be so I helped it get out which was tough so it might have been stuck. Once it was free, it swam around very strangely like it was disoriented and now it's in a fixed position face down into the rocks. It's still breathing but it doesn't seem to be in good shape. Here's a pic of what it looks like right now:

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds to me that he damaged his swim bladder. The swim bladder is what allows a fish to control it's buoyancy and maintain it's orientation. Probably best to put that one down. The most humane way to put down a fish is to take a sharp knife and sever the spinal cord behind the skull.

I guess this particular fish has been on the watch list for not making it a few times. I changed 20% of the water out and will see how it's doing in the morning. Severing spinal cords does not sound very fun at all.
