Anyone here want to cut a catalytic converter off for me

My wife's malibu has been acting up for a while. Seems its slowly gotten worse, to where now there's barely any acceleration, and the car is limited to about 15-20 mph. Several people have been saying for a while that it seemed like the catalytic converter is clogged. Does anyone want to come cut it off? I don't have a jack or any tools useful to this job. I have a shop that would do it, but I'm not driving all the where there doing 10. call/text with a price for you to come to me and do this(near 11/hoover). I've heard there are people that will come cut it off and pay you for it, but I'm not looking to make $ off it. If you want it, you can take it. If not, we can work out a fee for your work. 586-265-9842 call/text Thanks. Sometime today would be fantastic, I'm tired of driving her around. Will update when I have someone lined up, and again when they come over.

btw - I have a garage, if you can't come till later at night, or need to plug anything in

Im not so sure that's a subject anyone would want to talk about online...lol
You may want to just try loosening the exhaust to confirm its plugged before you go cutting it off.

x2 on loosening the exhaust and see if it runs better. Just unbolt the thing from the header and see if it runs. This worked on my Grand Prix that had a bad cat. And keep the core cause it's a GM and should be worth anywhere from 90-135 depending on size and market value.

The car won't run good without the cat either and the CE light will be on.

I really need to get some tools for stuff like this. All I have is some small screwdrivers, and an rj45 crimper. I smacked the shit out of it with a hammer for a minute, and it was able to rev up for a little bit, but went back to being fail shortly after.

You should also ck fuel pressure.
A plugged filter or faulty pump will give the same symptoms.

Hoping I can get one of my auto-inclined friends over today. They all have no trouble showing up if their computer is messed up, but suddenly become busy when I have car trouble.

finally got someone to go to the house today... barely anything coming out of the tailpipe, which i guess is a good sign. only bad news is, hacksaw isnt cutting the pipe. hopefully he leaves his jack so i can try when i get off work. worst case i could probably pop off a few rounds through the cat...

hey man i have a sawzall if ya need it im around 13/schoenherr

Damnit, I just rented one. Got it off tho :D Took like 5 seconds. Put a pipe on there for now until I have time to take it somewhere and get it done right(or somewhat right). Loud as HELL (i suck at clamps, imagine its leaking from everywhere) +1 for the offer tho :D thx

Don't let it leak for too long, it's going directly into the passenger compartment. I hate smelling like exhaust fumes!!!

BTW...yeah, if you had almost nothing out of the tailpipe it is definately the converter. My 02 Grand Prix had around 80K when it failed and of course it failed on my wife, (then girlfriend) all the way out in East Lansing. I had to go alllllll the way out there to drive it back, she couldn't do it. I knew how to feather the gas to get it home the "quick" 80 miles. lol

should have just gutted it...
