Anyone have a friend with michigan state police, or other departments?

mind boggling that somebody would want to spend their working career sitting on the side of the road pick pocketing people on their way to/from work and vacation.

A kid I know just got shot down by MSP (bad choice of words :lol - he
scored just a hair under, so he is a "no go". He is a great kid, but as others
have stated, MSP standards are high.

They have super high standards, I am on the waiting list. I passed my final interview with an acceptable score, however my score puts me in order on a list. They pull from the highest score and work their way down, if my score is high enough I will get called to do a psych evaluation and physical with a conditional offer from the MSP for employment if I pass those. Hopefully I am high enough on that list.

I talked to a trooper last week, he said the hardest part for him was the swimming portion. And the ice bath, the ice bath is to show why you don't be a hero and dive in after someone who has fallen through the ice. They take you to the edge of hypothermia and back.

I have heard some crazy stories about what they put you through. I think the swimming would be hard, something about holding a brick and passing it around your group while treading water seems tough. They do prepare you for any and every situation though.

This is true, and if you drop the brick you have to dive down the retrieve it. You also have to pull a person out of a pickup truck cab that is bolted to the floor of the pool. The second time you do it you are wearing blinders to simulate the murky water you'll typically be working with here in Michigan.
